What are the working principles of a hydraulic press?
A hydraulic press (also known as an oil press) is a machine that uses liquid static pressure to process metal, plastic, rubber, wood, powder, and other products. It is often used in pressing and forming processes, such as forging, stamping, cold extrusion, straightening, bending, flanging, sheet metal deep drawing, powder metallurgy, and pressing.
The basic principle of a hydraulic press is that an oil pump delivers hydraulic oil to an integrated cartridge valve block. Through various check valves and relief valves, the hydraulic oil is distributed to the upper or lower chamber of the cylinder. Under the action of high-pressure oil, the cylinder moves. The press is a device that uses liquid to transmit pressure. When liquid transmits pressure in a closed container, it follows Pascal's law.
The hydraulic transmission system of a four-column hydraulic press consists of a power unit, a control unit, an actuator, an auxiliary unit, and a working medium. The power unit usually uses an oil pump as the power unit, generally a gear pump. In order to meet the requirements of the actuator's movement speed, one or more oil pumps are selected.
Low pressure (oil pressure less than 2.5MP) uses gear pumps; medium pressure (oil pressure less than 6.3MP) uses vane pumps; high pressure (oil pressure less than 32.0MP) uses plunger pumps. Pressure processing and forming of various plastic materials, such as extrusion, bending, and deep drawing of stainless steel sheets and cold pressing of metal parts, can also be used for powder products, grinding wheels, resin wood, and thermosetting resin products.
The function of a hydraulic press
CNC hydraulic presses have strong versatility. They add pressure sensors to hydraulic machine tools, and through a microcomputer-based data acquisition and system processing, convert the data into pressing force values for digital display. When exceeding the limit, an audio-visual alarm and shutdown signal are sent to achieve automatic control of the pressing force. The load display controller provides clear display, accurate control, fast response, and stable and reliable operation. By changing different sensors and application software, it can be used for forging equipment of different tonnage. The application of counters allows each operator to know the total number and the number of unqualified products, and the addition of dual-hand buttons makes the operation of the machine safer.

CNC hydraulic oil pumps generally use internal gear pumps, while traditional hydraulic presses generally use axial piston pumps. At the same flow rate and pressure, the noise of an internal gear pump is 5 dB to 10 dB lower than that of an axial piston pump.
